Campbell Hatton Offers Emotional Tribute to His Late Parent

Ricky Hatton’s son Campbell expressed an heartfelt tribute through his first public words since his father’s death.

Tributes have poured in around the boxing community and wider society following the tragic news of the one-time world boxing titleholder, who was found at his property this past weekend at the tender age of 46.

“Heartbroken isn’t how I feel,” captioned his son alongside a collection of personal images.

“People always remarked I looked like your spitting image – not a honest word said. Always admired you in every way of life.”

He added: “I can’t explain how much I’m going to cherish the laughs we shared and all of the special moments, that I will remember always. I can’t believe we can no longer have more together. I love you, Dad.”

Local authorities stated that the athletic legend had been pronounced at his home situated in Hyde. The department stated that there were no concerning factors related to the event.

Much like his parent, Campbell also ventured into a career in the ring, having his paid introductory fight in 2021. He later retired from the industry earlier this year.

Shortly after, the family of the champion released a statement stating that they were “profoundly touched” by the overwhelming display of love and sympathy sent their way.

“Richard was far greater than a world champion. To us, he was simply ‘Richard,’ our child. A caring father, grandad, and sibling, and a loyal companion to many people,” the release said.

“He had a heart as big as his smile, and his kindness, humour, and dedication influenced each person fortunate enough to meet him.

“To the wider world, Hatton will permanently be known as one of boxing’s most iconic figures – a man who gave everything during the bouts and showed his heart on his sleeve.”
